Adding Subscribers

As mentioned in the What are Subscribers article, subscribers are your stakeholders. They are the people with whom you are trying to reach in the most efficient and measurable way. Without them, your organization is likely worthless.

Adding Subscribers to the Subscriber CRM

For some, adding subscribers is the most challenging part of getting your MessageSpring account set up and ready to use. So, we want to make sure that you have everything that you need to get your subscribers add so that you can start communicating with them via SMS, email or our MessageSpring app in their language.

You can add subscribers in multiple ways.

Adding subscribers one by one is laborious. For this reason, the one by one method should be used only when you have a new, single person who wants to subscribe and you want to do this as a service.

Description Business Users can set messages to expire. What it means As a sender: You can set a message to disappear at some point in the future. This can be useful for messages that could be in the public (e.g. via SMS) that you deem to be moderately sensitive. As a recipient: If you view the message before it expires, you'll see it as usual. If you try to view the message after the expiration date, you'll see a nice message that the message is no longer available.

Description: We will verify that all existing mobile phone numbers in our system are valid and able to receive text messages. MessageSpring will send reports to business customers identifying all phone numbers that fail our validation checks.

When new subscribers sign up or subscribe to businesses on the MessageSpring platform, phone numbers that are not valid mobile numbers will be rejected. This will ensure that the MessageSpring platform maintains only good and valid phone numbers.

Description: We are enabling subscribers to manage images in messages the way that they do in other apps. For example:

The user can swipe right/left to view the next/previous images.
The user can swipe down to exit from the image viewer.

What are Expiring Messages

As a business customer, you are probably aware that we support Omnichannel messaging. As described in our What are Channels? article, we want to provide our customers' customers with options when it comes to receiving messages.

When messages are sent to subscribers via our MessageSpring app, they are not inherently public. This means that our customers are in control of their messages. For example, they can unsend them if there was an error or they were time sensitive.

However, when messages are sent outside of the MessageSpring app (e.g. SMS or Email), our customers lose control of how long those messages are in the public domain. The reason is that we make those messages available as links to micro websites. For most messages, this might not be an issue. For other messages, our customers might not want those available on the internet for all to see forever.

We handle this case by allowing the sender of messages to either Unsend the message (after sending) or set an expiration date to the message(before sending). See the image below to see how to add an expiration value to the message.
