Why grouping your audience is crucial
Putting your audience into groups is known as segmenting. We will use variations of the word "segment" in this article because it simplifies what we have to say.
Segmentation is a very powerful communication technique. The reason is that your audience prefers more personalized interactions from your business.
It’s known that segmented messages have 14 per cent higher open rates and 101 per cent higher click-through rates than non-segmented ones.
When you segment your messages, your messages reach the audiences only. This translates to higher engagement, increased happiness, and a greater ROI for your messaging efforts.
Take the case of Berkeley International School, for example.
They didn't know how to segment their data so they would generally send emails to all parents on their list. This meant that everyone received huge emails covering all grades and after school activities. However, a tiny fraction of the email was meant for each parent unless they had 12 children, one in each grade. Sometimes they would send emails to everyone about soccer practice while 90% of the school had nothing to do with soccer. This is communication strategy full of noise.
With MessageSpring and a segmented audience and our Group feature, they're able to send messages to the people who need to get it. This reduces noise and increases parent satisfaction.
